Hey, something of a serious question.

I just got done watching Kamen Rider Hibiki. They have this thing they do where, when someone goes out on a mission, one of the ladies who stays home taps some flint together (I can only assume it's flint: there are sparks) to wish them good luck.

Is this an actual Japanese tradition, or something made up for the show? If it's legit, does it have a name? Where can I find out more about it? My google fu has failed me.
