Greetings /jp/, I haven`t been here in a while but I have a request.

I want to learn japanese (new concept I know) for the simple purpose of learning it. I'm not an otaku, I'm not a weaboo, I just want to learn a new language and love the japanese language for no real reason but the language itself.

I am also incredibly weak-willed however, but like many others have the ability to do things when others are doing them with me. So here's my thought:

Is there someone else here that's essentially brand new to the language and would want to work with me? This meaning exchanging emails, working on the same things, and using eachother for practice/resources/support.

Anybody interested? I've tried once before so I'm not completely inept, I just wasnt dedicated enough and had no way to practice without reading things online that i couldnt read anyways becaue of things like kanji or concepts i hadnt covered yet.

So /jp/ I was wondering how one goes about learning Japanese. Of course I'm mainly interested in reading fluency, since I doubt I will be in a situation that requires speaking it. I imagine you start by studying hiragana/katakana and after that some kanji grinding? How long would it take to reach a satisfactory level of fluency? Also what books/study materials are a must? Any tips/advice would be appreciated.
