>Legend of Mana was amazing though, the 2D art was god tier, the music was haunting (particularly loved the theme of the Jumi town), the various stories arc were great and there were a tons of things to do like forging your own weapon, building your golem, getting pets, etc...

I tried it, but I can't say I liked it. Something seemed off about the controls compared to Secret of Mana. I've heard it be called kiddie Diablo due to the multiple playthough mechanic. The plot and characters didn't grab me like they did in Secret of Mana either. Then when I played Seiken Densetsu 3 it seems like even more of a step back.
