It took me until today when I saw Yorihime's stats lower than what she should be at max power to realize that units actually get stronger with higher friendship levels...

I was farming Marisa with Youmu and Ran and decided to put Medicine in to gain some levels. Now Youmu and Ran are absolutely crushing Marisa and practically doubling their damage. What's going on here? I looked at Medicine's skills and none of them say anything about lowering defense.
