That's the point though, on a board where even the "spam" is so slow that you never have to worry about an active "good" thread falling off the first page, there shouldn't be a reason for so many posts to be deleted.

If anything, the frivolous deleting just serves to temporarily increase the spam on the board, because spammers end up making dozens of new threads rather than sticking to their old individual ones.
