Based on the story, unbelievable as it is already with all the students as well as teachers bending over backwards to avoid seeing what is going on, it's nota big leap to guess that nothing would come of going to the authorities. The school wanting to avoid bad publicity and covering it up and the police finding it hard to do anything without witnesses and concrete evidence as well as the teachers being unable or unwilling to get involved.
Bringing a weapon you don't know how to use for self protection is one of the dumbest things you can do. I can just see Aeka cutting herself on the knife she brought to scare off the bullies. And firearms aren't exactly easy to get ahold of in countries with, you know, gun control.
Yeah, Do some crunches and take a few self defence classes and you're Bruce Lee in a week.
