Who you, and the Touhou Project community call Tewi or てゐ, is actually named てい or more rather "Tei". This is because the character for ゐ was removed from the Japanese alphabet after World War II. This causes confusion among the english community who mistakingly call her "Tewi" when her name is more correctly "Tei" though the character ゐ is used in promotional and official materials. She is verbally always referred to as "Tei".
