Autism time. /jp/ has a new thread creation rate of a bit over an hour if you only count non-deleted OP's, to around a half-hour if you include deleted OPs (from a small selection of OP posts from waruso). The old thread is on page 8, with 35 threads between it and falling off page 10. So it may take almost 1 day, to 1 day and a half before the old thread dies. A few threads on the /jp/ are very fast, but most of the board is very slow. That's why this thread >>16907743 has over 1000 posts and this thread >>16907220 has over 2000. For comparison, the old /alt/ thread has a bit over 500.
tl;dr, page 8 is premature to make a new thread. Do what you want, though.
