Just hand them a friendly bird and let them fawn over it a bit so you can approach them while they're distracted. While humans are cautious around Youkai, they're very weak to any sort of animal acting friendly towards them unless they hold a grudge for some time a crow stole their food or something, so you can leverage your servants and creep up while they're loving on them. When your in pouncing distance, give your crow the signal to fly away and say something like:
>ah, that's too bad, but you know, there's another crow here you can pet.
And then spread your wings about them. It's probably a 50/50 on whether they freak out, but if they don't, you'll have a good chance of forming a positive association and eventually get them more comfortable with other stuff.
