Except the console games are designed to be played with the controller. From start to finish, every note in every chart in placed so that the player can play it on the face buttons. FT is the only game in this series that doesn't adhere to that philosophy. It was designed to be played on a special controller with a special layout and considering they made controllers for F, F 2nd, and X, it's also the only game in recent years to NOT get the controller, despite being the one game that needs it.
