Hi friends, I'm new to this and wish to learn japanese at a somewhat basic level at least.

To my understanding
>it's best to get a basic understanding of Hiragana and Katakana
>use vocabulary programs to memorise vocabulary
>take a read through a grammar guide, and read some beginner pieces such as Yotsuba
>refer to grammar guide and/or something for vocabulary when you read text you don't understand
>then comes the kanji hurdle

I'm perfectly fine with taking this approach, the only problem is that, my PC shit the bed a few weeks ago and I've resorted to using my tablet to browse. I won't be able to use Anki to help with vocabulary

Is my understanding to this a good way to do things? The only problem being I can't use anki, perhaps I'd have to refer to Google, or an app(?) to help with vocabulary I see and do not understand if for example I'm reading through yotsuba. Thanks for reading, I hope someone can help me out here
