Why is it a popular choice for Western NEETs to become attached and obsessed with Japanese culture specifically? There are many countries with a rich cultural background like Korea, Russia, India and even places like England so why aren't there otakus that spend hours over-analysing and discussing these places?

I mean, what's so good about Japan? There are many other places that produce really great idiosyncratic and flamboyant artwork (including music, comics and other soft media). I just don't get it.
