I found something rather interesting yesterday combing through naval records while bored.
In June of 1944, the submarine my grandfather was on began an attack on convoy Hi-67. The convoy was defended by a screening group of coastal defense ships and submarine chasers which mercilessly, yet unsuccessfully, depth charged the submarine USS Bang.
One of the ships responsible for the attack, Kurahashi, appears in Kantai Collection.
This ship almost ended my bloodline.
