The whale ship is not a game mode you do on your very first day.
I think the general consensus is to first focus on your core 20 team until you're able to effortlessly 3star-clear 80 stamina event missions.
In the long run getting characters to max affection and evolving them won't be a big deal. And that alone already leads to ~100k parties.
