No, that's literally all false.

First, these threads were not daily but weekly. They became daily only after the ban and migration to /c/.
They followed same format for years, where people would come, ask questions about waifus and their experience with them. People didn't discussed anything that didn't involved their waifu. Nothing changed about it, and mods approved it multiple times.
Also if the blogging was the problem, it wouldn't explain why mods ban all serious waifu discussion. Not just Waifu Wednesday general, but any serious discussion about waifus. When people in the thread were not memeing, the thread would get banned no matter what format it had.
There was no point where "rest of /a/ was against it". This was part of /a/ culture for long time and the only person who had any problem with it was mod. We often got people who are not waifuists coming over to the thread to say how nice and comfy waifu threads are, in the sea of shitposting and trashtalk that /a/ is.
This also was about the same time where /a/ had a lot of changes that made a lot of people leave /a/. They allowed Naruto discussion, they removed a lot of generals and they also forced some of the generals like buyfag to do stupid hops like not using Subject in thread or backlinking to previous threads for no reason.
