i disagree slightly on this. or i guess it depends on what you're referring to when you use that term. i tend to see more people complaining about other people sexualizing characters than i do people actually sexualizing characters (outside of spaces where sexualizing characters should just be expected, like in porn comments sections or something), and it strikes me as especially stupid when it's literally a vn/game that has sex scenes in it. to me, it strikes me as people going "sex is bad and you should feel bad for having a sex drive", and i disagree with that, i don't know what's particularly wrong with having feelings for a character, sexual or otherwise (within reason, i should note. obviously i think spam and outrage bait are annoying but i don't think it's as big of a problem as people like to make it out to be).
i do agree with everything else, confused teenagers on the internet recently are very annoying when it comes to discussing "safe" sexual themes (for lack of a better term), like the madowasraped theory or trans/egg stuff (though, in the case of specifically yume nikki, there should be some leeway i think. part of the appeal of this game is varied everyone's interpretation of it is). in the case of confused teenagers pushing trans stuff into every discussion, it just feels like either projection or validation bait.
