This actually touches upon a reason I like Yandere. Most yandere stories will have an 'inciting incident' were a guy takes initiative, like overcoming the bystander effect to help a bullied girl or being admired for some form of exceptionalism and dedication. Koishi wouldn't have noticed Anon if he had just ignored that leaflet and hadn't gone to investigate, Reimu would've ignored him if he was unfriendly(it's tough making friends in a foreign land).
Basically, I believe yandere should be the tragedy of someone going out into the world, living well, and in doing so attracting a predator.
