I've got one for you.

I met this typical shy Japanese girl at uni and I've gotten to be good friends with her over the last couple of months. She acts exactly as you'd imagine. When she's too embarrassed to say something all I hear is "Embarrassing! Embarrassing! Embarrassing! " Same if she's scared "Scary! Scary! Scary!" It's very cute, but can also be annoying if you're trying to talk about something serious. It's usually cute though.
There are some other things I've noticed as well. She never wants to be rude to others to the point where they could walk all over her if they wanted. I also get the feeling that she looks down upon other Asians as whole, not particular individuals. She has a Korean friend that I've met, but she later told me "A lot of Koreans get plastic surgery to look like Japanese," which may or may not be true but regardless betrays what she thinks of Koreans as a whole. Or, "I don't like when people say that I am Chinese. I am not like that." [sic] The tone of these comments suggest to me that she feels slightly superior to other East Asians.
I think this is explained by her upbringing. She's a student at Tokyo University, an only child. Her mother is a stay-at-home mum and her father is a 'scientist' who works at some engineering firm. So a pretty typical, conservative background. Pretty interesting how closely her upbringing and her current manner line up.
