>>I have never felt that heat, that aura of absolute devotion radiating off the person in front of me.
I got to line up beside one of them wotas on Saturday. Kept trying to sweet-talk me out of my Ai-chan Love-Hello. I was like "da-meh, this stays with me."

There were also 3 hardcore wotas about 15 places ahead of me, according to the wota beside me, those three went to every single concert. One had a Sayummy microfiber towel, another had a Eri towel. I saw a couple ppl actually go up to them and try to make conversation, starting with "I hear you three are the most hardcore of fans".....

So yeah some of us got a taste of that.

>>Well take anyone out of their natural element and this will be weakened somewhat, probably why people at AX were so apologetic over the Japanese wotas, they simply don't know the level of devotion.
I'd like to know WHO was actually apologetic.... the ones I talked to were more like "wow....."

>>and that by virtue of some cultural x factor I cannot comprehend.
without stoking yet another flame war, can I say "2D vs 3D"?

>>Of course there will be elements of that which make it easier to understand and appreciate when you are from that culture but pure devotion finds a way of crossing cultural borders.
I'm pretty sure we'll breed our own homegrown wotas. Just give it time, check back at /jp in n years, etc.
