It's actually quite easy, it just looks complicated and difficult looking at it as a whole. All you really need to do is break stuff down into smaller parts and solve the smaller mystery before piecing the smaller mysteries together and forming a bigger picture.

Like in this case, there's the wider mystery of who the culprit was, but you can break it down to a mystery around single individuals like Person E. The mystery then becomes "How did the Culprit kill Person E in a locked room?", some back and fourths with red truths and blue truths and you figure out that Person E was killed with poison, which gives you information on the wider mystery which you can apply to other things.
