It's not that their pizzas are inferior. It is what pizzas taste like. WHat commercial brands have done is enhance the bread and cheese. Have you never noticed how bread you see in supermarkets is so soft, but if you go to a bakery in a small rural town in, say, Mexico, where they knead and bake the bread as they did hundreds of years ago it is much firmer? Or have you tried a Cemita? It is not very soft, but the commercial variants are much softer and easier on the palate.

Those additives and chemicals make the pizzas taste and feel better, but will do a number on your stomach later.
