Fae in D&D are a credible threat due to the fact that they're flying and D&D handles aerial mechanics poorly. Even if she only had 2hp (the same as a commoner), she would be able to nuke your average first to fifth level party with ice from a safe distance unless they had a caster with magic missile.

Pixies are even more broken, getting invisibility and evasion bonuses on top of flying and having higher speed than humans AND having as much hit dice as an orc.
