I don't think this is ever explicitly explained in game, but here's my theory for what it's worth I think Mitsuki looks at marks on herself as a symbol of love, maybe a coping mechanism for her mother's abuse. She calls these scars her 薔薇, and the one other time she uses this term is when the yakuza dude is beating her up.
