Did you read the intermission yet? I felt the same way until I finished it. Even if she's just a tool for Barnier's development and is bordering on being a retcon character, I think it was pretty effective at making a previously one-dimensional-character get some depth. Two broken peas in a pod and all that. I didn't really expect to come out of the FD actually enjoying Barnier's character, I thought he was just gonna be a 1D madman the entire time.
