A "canon" is a set of writings, e.g. the speaches of Cicero, the collected works of Shakespere, or in this case the Encyclopedias and World Guides of KC.
An "interpretation" is what a reader does by exercising his own judgement after reading that canon. Like deciding whether or not Lady Macbeth was a psycho, or if Druella Did Nothing Wrong.
A "canon interpretation" is an oxymoron, because the text can't tell you what to think about the text.
