I actually used to be one of those people who went all "muh honorifics" years back but as I learned more about translation and Japanese the more I realized how pointless they are. Picture related, though admittedly since my JP knowledge is quite limited this chart is more about "how much you know about translation" in my case.

While I might be a "casual" in terms of reading eroge I'm anything but when it comes to consuming JP content in general. For porn I primarily prefer manga (I didn't fap even once with Evenicle, I pretty much read it purely for the characters and story) and otherwise I mainly watch a shitload of anime. One big reason for that is that I'm somewhat of a translation snob, and in my experience anime has the most consistent translation quality out of the various forms of JP media. From what I've heard and seen examples of, even limited to official releases alone VNs have a lot more variation on TL quality (which has an even bigger impact overall with VNs being so text-focused).

On that note, one reason why I also prefer no honorifics is that often it's a sign of confidence and skill for the localization team. The more skilled the translator, the more they generally don't like to leave things untranslated. Untranslated honorifics are ultimately a lazy cop-out on part of the translator, after all.
