I also experienced a HDD failure back in 2017 and lost a ton of Okuu images; literally thousands, so I know your pain. Going through all of Danbooru, Pixiv, and Twitter took me a few months before I had most of them back. It took a few months longer than I thought it would since many artists over the past few years stopped bothering to upload their stuff to Pixiv anymore and began to only tweet them, making certain images harder to find again. Then theres the occasional scenario of artists just deleting their art or Pixiv profile entirely for no apparent reason. Now I have my Okuu folders divided up between multiple SDDs and many backed up just in case.
