I think Mima would do great in a game more focused around western mysticism, along the lines of EoSD.
The concept of an "evil spirit" isn't really that unique to japanese mythology, especially in the way Touhou seems to employ it, and given the heavy judeo-christian imagery or at least a random japanese man's view of what that looks like in the PC-98 games I can't imagine that being taken away from her character.

I mean she's doing a crucifix pose in her MS bomb sprite there for god's sakes. You couldn't really have a more westernised character unless you tried.
Which is probably why ZUN ditched her along with most of the rest of the PC-98 crew, since he decided to take the games in the complete opposite direction, and they just don't fit thematically (At least after 7).
