Question to all touhou fans in this thread.

I don't know much about touhou but I'm interested in the characters and I'm curious about the story/plot and want to learn more about it.
Do I REALLY have to struggle playing all the games to get a good dose of what the "touhou universe" has to offer? Fuck I just want to lean back and watch some 2hoe animu or something but I've heard that we'll never get one.
I'm not a casual, though I haven't played many dodge the pixels games. But I'd consider getting the games if there's no other way. What do?
