From the top of my head right now ... to autocollect the stars get the enemies as close as possible. To know what I mean, when you start the first stage move in front of the line of first enemies so they explode just infront of you.

You need to save you shield for special moments, not use it whenever you want.

For the first mid-boss use your shield to eat all the first 3 waves of bullets (don't keep the shield on, turn it off and on every wave that comes). Then move to the bottom and stay between the lasers, when the yellow bullets are coming tap to right or left and move forward to avoid the missiles. Repeat.
