Yo /jp/.

So I got interested a bit in learning Japanese. I learned kana already, it wasn't that hard, but now when I try to write something in it, I almost always get scolded for not writing in kanji. Why is that?

And how important is kanji really? It seems so boring to learn it, do I really have to?

Also, how hard is it to master Japanese, should I go through it till the end, or should I just give up?

Pic unrelated, but funny.
