Well, Teppei has had a bunch of ideas thrown around for his abuse, although nothing has been developed. R07 always seems to throw it and then do nothing with it.

Minagoroshi itself has Irie near the ending going on about how the abuse started due to Teppei and his wife suffering ostracism from Hinamizawa and then lashing out on the children.

07th Expansion character settings collection says that Teppei was mistreated by his parents during childhood and his current situation is just that cycle going on.

For a non-R07 take (probably, R07 has a co-writing credit for Mei in general, although the main writer is the console arc one.), Teppei's character story in Mei goes on about how when he grew up he was useless and thought the only way of surviving was putting on a though violent front. He didn't trust his friends and thought he needed to impress them. He admired his brother, but always dislike him marrying a woman with children and thought that was a bad idea. When his brother got treated as an enemy of Hinamizawa he also blamed that whole relationship for it, and initially didn't want anything with them, although his wife and the talk of money ended up convincing him to go there.

I think the idea is that she never was confronted with a situation that mirrored her own so closely (or if she did, she didn't even notice it, like how she only starts thinking about the similarities once Rena speaks here, which is also why this scenario deviates from Tsumi).

Well, it's somewhat rushed, although Meguri is clearly assuming you already know the scenes it's referencing from Tsumi and Gou rather than wasting its time showing everything again.

You're remembering the comment wrong, although it was dumb anyway.

>I don't think the character Satoko has been explored that deeply in the past, and we haven't seen much of her feelings other than that she was an abused child.

>Yeah and we know Rika has em, even though there's no alter ego in her anymore and we hear nothing about a split afterwards. Either way, we know Satoko wasn't exactly disagreeing until Tatari.
They did include that one shot of her with a sad face in Oniakashi. Only to have her immediately causing a tragedy for kicks in Wataakashi, they didn't seem to worry about consistency at all, just what visuals looked cool.

>I checked the interview, she didn't say the 100 years are responsible for anything, she said that Satoko being willing to sit through 100 years is proof of her resolve in the first place. Meaning she had that drive beforehand. Don't make things up here.

This is the translation I have
---
>After her double suicide and experiencing a hundred years of Rika’s memories I could fathom how strong her feeling towards Rika was. Her hatred stems from the fact the more you like someone, the better they are at disliking them.
---

>That was Ryukishi actually, he said Satoko was just a damsel in distress in the two arcs that were about her while Keiichi was the actual protagonist, so he wrote Gou as a way to redact that mistake (lmao). Unless I missed another interview where the director said that too.
The director outright talked about her not having much of a character before aside from "abused girl".

>I saw that too, he's talking about how her trauma led her to developing an unhealthy obsession over a dependable figure like Satoshi, and how over time that switched over to Rika. We all know that part.
He also talked about it in the Funimation interview regarding the grudges she carried to the loops. Either way, none of the came up in the anime at all.

>But this whole thing started with us discussing how sympathetic Satoko was regarding her dismissing Rika's death and suffering during her 100 years. That's probably the biggest factor here, and so far all we've gotten is "well maybe she suffered horribly during her time there, eh? ever thought of that" which doesn't really cut it for me as far as concrete answers go.
No, this discussion started with a post about how there's no way for the manga to fix anything since it's still the same conflict. My point the whole time is that there is chance it can be portrayed in a better way than the anime did if we get focus on the loops breaking her, and that leading to the tragedies, rather than minimizing the loops like the anime did, which just makes Satoko herself look worse, and removes all weight from Eua, contradicting R07's interviews.

This is how the interview contines from that point:
>— Were Satoko’s actions in Gou and Sotsu there in the original Ryukishi07’s plot?
>Kawaguchi: Most of the events were there from the beginning, but since I was entrusted with the depiction of them in the anime, I tried to add intensity. I haven’t heard what Ryukishi07 has to say about it yet *laughs*
I genuinely don't trust the director's take with [ADDED INTENSITY]. He's repeatedly shown that he doesn't get Satoko's original character at all, so this is nothing surprising.

>川口: 沙都子というキャラク夕ーは、実はこれまでそんなに深く掘り下げられていなかったと思いますし「虐待を受けていた子供」ということ以外の部分での、沙都子の心情みたいなものはあまり見えていなかつた
>沙都子の心情みたいなものはあまり見えていなかつた
This was posted with a comment "Kawaguchi doesn't know Satoko at all to say something like that. Fucking disgusting."
I think the anime director just somehow manages to be worse with interviews than R07.
