I mean you're pretty much saying the failure to include American ships is imperial commentary because you just arbitrarily would have preferred to have them in the anime. And this is after when it's already pretty clear that the various works in the franchise have no logical connection, and the character setting of Itsu Umi makes perfect sense in the context, and doesn't really have any neo-imperialist elements or whatever.
