Finished a route in Dokodona. (Ishi aka Sayaka)

This work is quite spoiling. It's really just a moege, but one that doesn't really do most of the typical retarded tropes these usually come with. So for example while this is definitely a harem, it doesn't do the typical harem tropes. The group feels more like a typical "group of friends", and you can forget about things like "lucky accidents", bentowars or similar retarded things the genre is a bit plagued with.

The characters are pretty much all pretty nice. While you still have your "archtypes", they aren't quite handled like you've come to known, and they have all a few more layers to make them.. well.. characters. So for example the tsundere isn't actually hopping around the whole "does she like him or not" thing for long. (In fact I'm not even sure I should call her that..) It feels a bit like the characters are.. characters, and not just made artificially cute or follow the most typical staples just to follow them.
Hand in hand with that comes the great support cast. The best friend is great. Has his own love-interest/girlfriend. There is even a scene where the protagonist talks with him about love and the troubles! Man to man! In a fucking eroge! Also the main-heroine is said buddy's little sister! Not the protagonists! You actually see a decent brother-sister relationship!
It's.. crazy. Even the ero-scenes don't bother with letting the girl describe everything in great detail for the lulz but only lets her talk if she.. well.. wants to convey something. In fact the scenes are pretty cute and more than just silly porn.. at least in part. And for the route I read I suppose.


That said, nothing is perfect. Some won't like the art. Others will find it too short. (common isn't, but the route was really a little short and ended abruptly) And once again others just can't into the girls being rather.. outgoing and.. let's just say: Not just the "receiving" kind. It's definitely more targeted at people who like girls like Momiji of Fortissimo or similar outgoing girls and don't mind protagonists being the opposite. (it's not full female dominance, but it gets there at times for sure)

Still, this was quite a positive surprise. No major drama either, and what little there was... was actually really well done. Didn't expect this out of a random game I picked up 'cause it's short and the twin-tail looked cute. And indeed she was cute. Cute enough that I'm not going to play another route for a while, even though there are more than interesting enough other girls.
