I can't speak for everyone who enjoys NTR, but from my own perspective, NTR is pretty much the only source of sexual submission material on the VN market. The vast majority and the most popular stuff is about pure virgin waifus who have drama at some point in their route but all in all it's usually pretty tame stuff emotionally, considering the target audience.

In NTR, a heroine is usually forced upon, initially resistant, and then eventually submissive. The fact that she already has a significant other makes the submission more complete and satisfying. And the more "pure" the heroine is built up to be, the more shocking and satisfying it is when she breaks expectations and voluntarily submits to an antagonist.

It's a kind of delicate sexual fantasy that is easy to mess up by forcing it, but is a rare delicacy when done with a degree of finesse.

Personally, I didn't know there was such an order when I first played it, so I ended up doing Ciel->Hisui->Arc->Akiha->Kohaku
