Alright guys, since you all seem to know what you're talking about, explain to me the pants-on-head retarded leg design choices I see in a lot of Japanese media.

I mean, of course, this shit. Look at this. This is a mild example, but I think it conveys the idea well enough:

>Hips/Thighs bending inward
>Knees practically touching
>Calves bent at ridiculous angles outward
>Ankles usually flayed out to compensate
>Feet facing FORWARD, even though they should be angled too

Does this look natural? Personally, I don't think so. Rather, I think this indicates some kind of physiological disorder. In my opinion, it doesn't look cute, and it certainly doesn't look sexy; it looks like the subject in question needs to go get an x-ray.

And the worst part is, I see it in concept art all the time around these boards. And every time I see it, I'm perplexed. Why can't Japanese-styled artists draw normal-looking legs?

Don't think I'm just generally ragging on Japanese media, either. I love their video games, and I'll occasionally sit down to read manga/watch anime. I just want to know why this is common.
