Sometimes, I take the batteries out of my radio and hold them tightly in my hand. They're so very warm, Anonymous.

I lie back on my bed, close my eyes and imagine that there is someone in my life that would lie next to me, someone that would hold my hand like this.

Just someone that cared, really.

I keep my eyes closed until the batteries are cold and dead. It's a terribly bitter feeling. Worse, though, is the knowledge that when I open me eyes, there will be no one beside me.

I wish we could have met under brighter circumstances. Maybe next time, eh?
