Meakashi really feels to me like one of the most inspired arcs from the original VN, really encompassing the theme of people pushing their sins onto others. Shion is the ultimate victim of the vn in that regard in how her family kept pushing their sins onto the next heir until Shion was finally crushed under the pressure. The whole point is that the she pretends like she's talking about Satoshi and others and such in her monolgues but in reality, it's all 100% about her and her life, not some random ship. Even Shion's love for Satoko, while heartwarming, can be read as really one-sided. All of it is for herself, Satoko's just really often used as a device for the growth of other characters.
