Are you still thinking about Japanese women with that 1960's old western stereotype? The culture of Japan has changed a lot since then. And when you get one over to the USA, immigrant wives have support groups to help them adjust further to the legal and cultural climate.

Image is of one of the more "advanced" dakimakura that have 3D features. I've not been to Akihabara recently, so I don't know how the life-size doll/dakimakura market has been evolving.
