Unless you are specifically wanting to a marry a chaos monster it is it's own separate demon realm with it's own unique culture and not where mermaids and other normal ocean monsters normally live. Normal ocean monster have their own cites and demon realms separate from the abyss.

>Men don't really reach Abyss by sinking. They get all swooped by sea MGs when they're still in shallow waters. Abyssal MGs usually get men by coming up to the ground in search of one or by some ritual that pulls in men from somewhere. (KC)
