vowg blog.
found a heartbreaker... nearly a marisa no-focus vowg timeout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aBWzC_Kc6c&t=24m9s.. dude also has a 110fps cap with needles.

watched all the lunatic vowg stuff i could find. there are roughly 60 players with timeouts across gensokyo (archive), yt, bili, and nico (no unique ones on twitch; none on royalflare, lunarcast, or afreeca); "roughly" since a few looked sketchy. 5-7 no-focus, one no-vert, one 75fps, and one with marsia. curious that there aren't more marisa timeouts. the hitbox makes it harder, but harder than a reimu no-focus? i dunno. maybe folks just don't appreciate the joys of fast ships.

strat spoilers?
approaches varied widely on micro/macro and positioning/reaction scales. surprising, though, that nobody tried to stay outside. a couple generally stayed a bit left, and another was a wild man, flying across the entire god damn screen, but otherwise folks mostly stayed under center. maybe it's bias, but i think that's the hard way. the center is nice because you have equal dodging opportunities on both sides, bullets come at less of an angle, and you've already practiced it that way for caps in full runs. but on the outside, visibility is much better, micro gaps are bigger, macro openings are usually bigger, there's more room (so there are often more macro opportunities), and you only see angled waves from one side instead of two. i also think that the rhythm is easier, although this might be due to manipulating the aiming of the waves (which i didn't notice from anyone else, although i easily could have missed it). can't prove that the larger down-left/up-right macro (especially jumping a little extra right if the return jump wasn't large or if i dodged differently) actually does manipulate the patterns into allowing more of that same macro, but it feels like it does, just like it feels that micro begets more micro. hard to be sure with the randomness in bullet spawns and the delays from spawn to targeting to approach.

here's mine, ctrl'd to fit in one webm: >>>/wsg/3258738. considered not memeing but, when the length from recording start to the last moment before the loading screen turned out to be 42.69 seconds, i decided it was meant to be.
also, attached is the seemingly mandatory pre-success choke from the day before. the left side is scary, and nerves didn't help, but still.
