Do you know that annual event where thousands (millions?) of otaku gather around just to buy stuff? Just like festivals.
Samurais loved their katanas like dakimakuras. And people auctioned a geisha's mizuage just like you do it nowadays by selling handshake coupons for idol CDs.

We need to learn the ways of the original otaku masters, so we can make the sames mistakes and carry the tradition on.

tl;dr: /jp/ has a good balance of seriousness, silliness and thread lifespan, don't create a board solely to breed bandwagon shitposters.

Generals are not a problem for me. Do you even Catalog?

The only ones I frequent are "OC general" and "Comiket general", the latter being a once every semester thing.

I don't see how generals get in the way of other topics. There was recently a 50+ posts thread about the pronunciation of a ten ten hiragana, a thread about "pop music that doesn't sound like animay",

Well, the board is full of random "I want to fuck Raymoo" stuff and that gets hundreds of replies. Sounds like enough liberty to funpost around.

Creating a 2D/Random would be allowing full shitposting, tripfags, people using anime reactions with the sole intention of shitposting.

I don't know about you, but I use other chans from my country and anime has shifted from a general thing people like to a collection of reactions for shitposting, from people that don't even watch anime and just wanna be "funposters"

If you were to create a 2D/Random board, you wouldn't be only giving them a place (like I said, /jp/ has a bit of windowspace for them and that's fine), you would be ACTIVELY STIMULATING the breeding of more anime shitposters and doing a disservice for the otaku culture, which gets more and more hate from normalfags who think all animefags are like those attwhore /a/tards.

During C83 there was a website with thumbnails, XFDs and DDLs, Do anyone remember it and why isn't this a thing every Comiket?
