Unless the MG feeds him the mushroom just before he dies, he'll unlive. Otherwise its essentially too late yes. However with the Will O Wisp and her holding unto the souls of those who perish, one could argue that theres ways to reverse even death by recalling the soul to a recently deceased (now repaired) body.

But that's where headcannon comes in.
Though i'd like to think that doing such things takes more than just a spell and requires a proper ritual to essentially lure a soul back to a body.
Teamwork between a Lich and Will O Wisp would probably be handy.

A yandere MG would go to the ends of hell to get her husband back. Or alternatively the local Lich first.
