I'd give Gil a little more credit, >Ea gg is a valid threat if it lands a hit and one could argue that Noble Phantasms work like Ahnenerbe in that they damage spirits. That and Ahnenerbe's damage depends on the strength of the targets soul, so gil could feasably take a few hits. That said he would still only be an even match for an individual battalion commander without their Beriah, and have very little chance against one who does use it.
