I'm the anon who asked about jpdb. I set up Anki with yomitan in the meanwhile and I'm currently giving it a try. I think it is useful for dynamically gathering terms to review later since jpdb is reliant on how you prioritize deck while in Anki you can create your own decks as you go. But it appears to me as though both platforms are best used in conjuction with each other. jpdb is ideal for slowly working through a more difficult or longer text while Anki is great for creating a 'bespoke' learning experience and fine-tuning your reviews.
