Well, in the context of originality, the original inhabitants of modern day Scotland were Picts that spoke Pictish which was insulated from (Irish) Gaelic and closer to southern British Celtic. A large part of the "Irish Scots" people (Ireland used to be called Scotland by Romans and Anglos, while Scotland was Pictland and later Alba), who lived in the NE of Ireland and SW of today-Scotland eventually overtook them due to Viking bullshit on the other coast and introduced Gaelic. But relatively little ethnic cleansing actually took place, and so the Scots of today are certainly not Irish Scots of back then because of this fusion, both in ethnicity and language. And the further north you go, the more Pictish the people look and sound. So REALLY, the original language of the modern day Scots would most appropriately be nameMMMPHH!! MMMMMFF MM-MMMM MMMM!
