You can disable it in the settings on videos, which on one hand I'm grateful for since it's not locked behind one of youtubes many retarded site-wide options that don't even work like they say, but on the other hand it was a retarded change to begin with and I genuinely cannot imagine what was going through the head of whoever made it in the first place.
