I just started reading Umineko a week or so ago, and I've just reached Ep. 4.

One of the things that really stood out to me was the conversation that Ange had with Eva, which was something alone the lines of "Man, my life sucks. My 'mom' doesn't love me, she just pretends to. In reality, she just hates me because I'm in the way of the son she really wanted."

If there's anything I've learned from reading this VN, it's that there's almost no pointless dialogue. Almost everything is an allegory of some sort or another. So I started thinking, "Wait a second, who is she really talking about?" And I narrowed it down to 4-6 people.

1) Battler
Kyrie was talking about jealousy with Asumu, and how she had a miscarriage when Battler was born. She hasn't outright said it, but I would not be surprised to find out she hates Battler for being the child of her husbands ex-wife. It would explain why he ran away 6 years ago, too.
2) Maria
Rosa wants to meet men, but because Maria was born, she can no longer have a child in wedlock.
3) Jessica
Lazy, firstborn lady, unfit to hold onto the family's inheritance, allowing Eva and George to potentially usurp the throne.
4) Ange
Obviously, since she's the one who said it.
5/6) Shannon/Kanon
Assuming they are the same person, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that the whole desire to cross-dress and roleplay is a result of a shitty childhood. I'm making a lot of assumptions with this one, though. So I don't know how comfortable I can be with that claim.
