The story so far goes like this:

The Carbuncle Knights send Carnelian and Zoisite to investigate a report of a huge Zolne at some lake. Said Zolne didn't cause any damage yet, but apparently it continually keeps growing.

On the road they mention how they're running late since a few days earlier, the Council[1] - upon hearing the same report - immediately sent one of their chairmen to investigate as well.
Since there's a rivalry between the knights and the Council, Black Opal orders them to solve the case before anyone else to improve their political standing in the capital. The same rivalry also exists between said chairman (Malachite) and Carnelian, so the later is already quite annoyed at the whole situation, since it's quite unusual for a chairman to directly take action, and she suspects Malachite planning something.

When they arrive at the lake, they're greeted by Malachite who immediately makes fun of them for being late and then proceeds to flying-hug MC-kun, which is super effective at annoying Carnelian even more. After some more banter and Malachite asking MC to ditch the knights and join her instead (Carnelian doesn't approve!), MC and Tinctura suggest that both groups work together, to which Carnelian reluctantly agrees.

They begin their work with Malachite wanting to show everyone and MC in particular what she found about the water in the lake. She "accidentally" falls into the water and goes "Save me, MC-kun~ ". Since MC-kun is a man of honor, he jumps in right after her. Lewdness ensues when she asks MC what he thinks of her body while her clothes somehow seem to slowly disappear. Then she once again asks him to ditch the others and run off with her, since she doesn't care about Councils or knights, and just wants to be alone with him. Malachite then tells him that the water apparently dissolves clothing, but doesn't harm the body. By the time Carnelian gets in hearing range, they're pretty much naked, which once again triggers her wrath.

After getting out of the water and into some clothes, they talk about how the huge Zolne is apparently responsible for the water having the dissolving effect, and also how it prevents clothing restoration for some time after getting out [2]. Malachite once again tries to convince MC to ditch the others and join her, saying that she neither cares about politics nor factions, that the position of chairman was pretty much forced upon her and that she'd rather focus on taking care of the Zolne problem instead of wasting time with politics. MC-kun still insist on everyone working together though, and after some more banter, they decide to head to a nearby village to find more clues about the Zolne.

-----
[1] The Council is the most powerful faction in the capital that controls pretty much everyone. Even Diamond's group (Trinity) has to follow their orders, despite them being famous heroes from the previous Zolne war.

[2] From what I understood, the clothes Jewel Princesses wear are actually materialized by their powers. It's probably related to the later main-story chapters where they're trying to craft new "armor" for Tinctura to return her to her former self (and fail).

And thus Malachite wins the award for best and lewdest loli in JP.
