What happens if I program an automaton with nothing but if-else statements?

I don't really have one but for the sake of the question, this is what I made up:
>What does she look like?
She's an automaton that was dug up from a buried ruin out in the desert. Most of her plating rusted or outright disintegrated by then, but we've done what we could to replace the deteriorated bits with the help of a sympathetic gremlin. The new, squishier material is an off-white color with a bit of metallic trim. I think she's self-concious about the parts that are still a bit rusty since she always tries to cover them up.
>What's her personality?
She's kind of emotionless like most automatons, and you have to suss out what her subroutines are 'feeling' through her actions instead of her words or body language. She often cuddles up next to me- ostensibly for 'protection' or to 'ensure your body is the proper temperature'.
>What does she smell like?
Arcane motor oil and magic gasoline, normally, so most of the time I hang a car air freshener from little ear protrusions. Mostly pine-scented ones. She doesn't seem to mind.
>What does she do for a living?
She works at an orphanage. All the little ones seem to think having a robot around is super cool, so she does pretty well for being kind of cold. I think she likes hanging around kids because she, you know, can't have her own. Maybe she wants to adopt?
>What are her hobbies?
Small-scale engineering or construction projects, like renovating the house or building whatever gizmo strikes her robo-fancy. She's even made a few guns, though she doesn't let me touch them. :(
>Does she have any friends?
Really just that automaton I mentioned earlier, since the two of them get on really well. Otherwise, she tends to come off as a little cold or standoffish to most people.

I am criminally lacking in robutt images. 2B is nice and all, but I need variety.

I want to overclock my automaton's Baby Factory 9000 artificial womb.

This is probably the most bizarre question I could ask, but what would determine an Automatons dominant hand? That, or would they be ambidextrous.
